| Seal Installation |
Rubber-coated metal case seals are being used in many current and non-current applications. These seals require a different installation procedure. Failure to use this installation procedure could allow internal gearcase pressures to force the seal out of position and cause the gearcase to leak. (1) Spray the rubber-coated outside case (a) with OMC DPL Penetrating Lubricant prior to installation. This aids in the installation, then evaporates allowing the seal's rubber case to bond to the aluminum housing. Use this procedure for all rubber-coated seal applications. |
