TURBO-COMPRESSOR

The turbo-compressor (i.e.. turbo-charger) depicted, on this page, was selected for it's wide range of application and specifications do change from one engine to the next.

This section covers the basic component identification. The next section covers testing and troubleshooting.

 turbine housing (1)
 heat shield (2)
 bearing housing (3)
 self locking bolts (4)
 bearing end head (5)
 turbine rotor (6)
 compressor housing (7)
 compressor rotor lock nut (8)
 piston ring retainer (9)
 oil deflector plate (10)
 thrust bearing (11 )
 thrust washer (12)
 bushings (13)
 piston rings (14)

All moving parts of the turbo compressor are separately balanced. This also applies to spare parts. A "joint" balancing, after reconditioning, may however be advantageous from the viewpoint of service life length.

Note: If it hasn't hit you already... a Super-Charger and a Turbo-Charger are not the same thing but do the exact same job.
